Manchester United need to improve their defence. That much has become pretty clear this season. Despite signing Raphael Varane from Real Madrid, they have continued to struggle at the back. They have conceded more goals in the Premier League than any other team in the top eight right now. In fact, Burnley, who are fighting a relegation battle at the moment, have conceded less than the Red Devils.

As a result, it is pretty clear that Manchester United need reinforcements at the back, especially in central defence.

Jules Kounde is someone that they have been linked with in the past, and the club might have been handed a massive chance to sign the Sevilla star after recent events.

Many believed that Kounde was going to end up at Chelsea next summer, but with the club’s future pretty much up in the air right now, Manchester United’s path to making a move for the centre-back could be clear.

Manchester United could have big chance to sign Kounde from Sevilla

Kounde has been one of the best defenders in La Liga for a while now. And Sevilla have the best defensive record in the league, with the French international playing a key part in that being the case.

Of course, there are some question marks over whether he has the physical attributes to be a success in the Premier League but overall, if Manchester United were able to sign him, it would be viewed as a major coup on the part of the Red Devils.

It might take a transfer fee over £50 million to bring Kounde to Old Trafford though. Let’s see how things turn out surrounding the player over the coming weeks and months, as Sevilla are looking to put up a title challenge against Real Madrid, who have an eight point lead at the top of La Liga.
