Manchester United are expected to bring in a permanent manager at the end of the season and someone who has been linked with the Old Trafford job heavily is Erik ten Hag. He has done a wonderful job during his time at Ajax, turning them into a force in the Champions League, while also playing an attractive brand of football at the same time. Thus, it is not hard to see why he is regarded as one of the most exciting managers in Europe right now.
If Manchester United are able to appoint him, it would be considered as a major coup on the part of the club.
And it looks Ten Hag is already starting to take some steps to judge the atmosphere surrounding Manchester United, before taking a decision on his future.
As reported by The Times (via Daily Mail), Ten Hag has been asking players about the squad via third parties. The manager is also seeking to learn as much as he can about how the club is run.
Ten Hag makes interesting Manchester United contact
Ten Hag was the architect behind Ajax’s run to the Champions League semi-finals a few years back, has them in a good position in domestic competitions and has gotten them competing at a high level in Europe once again this season.
Manchester United could do with someone like him in the managerial hot seat. He is certainly someone who has the ability to build something special if given the time and backing to do so.
But then, there is an element of risk involved in appointing someone like Ten Hag as well. He has never managed a top flight club outside of the Netherlands. Thus, would he be able to handle the pressure, expectations and everything else, that comes with managing Manchester United?
