Manchester United’s defence has been a worry for a long time now. They signed Raphael Varane last summer from Real Madrid and many believed that that would transform their backline into one of the best in England. But even he has fallen short since his arrival at Old Trafford, while Harry Maguire has not been able to match his performances from last season.
Manchester United’s defence has conceded 38 goals from 28 matches this season in the Premier League so far. Burnley, sitting at 18th and fighting to stay up, have conceded two less than the Red Devils till now. Thus, it is clear that they need to improve.
Given the circumstances, there might be some big changes in the club’s backline in the future, with the Red Devils expected to look to add reinforcements next summer.
Ahead of what could be a busy summer transfer window for Manchester United, the club appear to be already keeping their eyes on potential targets.
Manchester United interested in Torino’s Bremer
As reported by Tutto Juve (via Sport Witness), Manchester United have expressed an interest in Torino star, Bremer. Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur are also believed to be interested in the Brazilian defender though.
Manchester United have been linked with Bremer for a long time. The Torino star’s physicality, coupled with his other defensive traits, are thought to be suitable for English football.
His current deal with Torino runs out in the summer of 2024. Thus, next summer might be a good time for him to get a move away from the club.
He is their star player at this point of time though and with heavy interest in his signature, any club that ends up signing him might need to shell out a significant transfer fee to do so. Let’s see what the future holds.
