Manchester United will need to transform their squad in the upcoming summer transfer window when a new permanent manager is expected to arrive as well. And one area that might need particular attention is their midfielder, as the club’s middle of the park has been considered as a weakness for a long time now. On top of that, several players could be on their way out as well.

Paul Pogba has been heavily linked with an exit with his current deal running out in the summer. On the other hand, the futures of Nemanja Matic and Donny van de Beek are pretty much up in the air as well. And questions have been asked about whether Fred and Scott McTominay are good enough to be regular starters for Manchester United.

Thus, it would not be a huge surprise to see the club go after a midfielder, particularly a defensive midfielder next summer.

And as reported by The Northern Echo, Manchester United have had preliminary discussions with the agents of Boubacar Kamara. Newcastle United, West Ham United and Crystal Palace are also believed to be involved.

Manchester United have had preliminary talks with Kamara’s agents

Kamara has been an absolute standout in Ligue 1 in recent times. On top of that, his current deal with Marseille runs out in the summer and as a result, he is set to be available as a free agent.

Thus, it is not hard to see why Manchester United might be interested in the French midfielder although it is clear that there is heavy interest in his signature from elsewhere too.

Thus, if the club are able to sign Kamara, it would be considered as a major coup on their part. It remains to be seen what the future holds but things could get interesting soon.
