The biggest story surrounding Manchester United right now is who their next manager will be. Ralf Rangnick has improved this side quite a bit. But they are still not ready to compete for titles and appear to be headed for their fifth straight trophyless campaign. Thus, the German is expected to move into a consultancy role when this season comes to an end and someone else is expected to take the Old Trafford hot seat.
Of course, there has not been any lack of names being linked with the Manchester United job. Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag are the two, which have been brought up most heavily. But those like Luis Enrique, Simone Inzaghi, Brendan Rodgers and others have been floated around as well.
It looks like another name has joined the race to be the next Manchester United manager now though.
As reported by the Mirror, Southampton’s Ralph Hasenhuttl has been added to the Manchester United managerial shortlist after guiding his side to some impressive results this season.
Manchester United have added Hasenhuttl to their managerial shortlist
There is a lot of history between Rangnick and Hasenhuttl and it is not hard to see why the Southampton manager is someone that the Red Devils would be looking at.
While Southampton have never quite had an incredible season under him, he is very highly-rated for the job that he has done at the south coast club.
But at this point of time, it is hard to feel that Manchester United would make a move for him ahead of the likes of Pochettino and Ten Hag. Of course, anything can happen in football and let’s see how things turn out.
The next manager is going to be very important for the direction Manchester United head in the future though. Let’s see who it turns out to be.
