Manchester United are expected to bring in a new manager in the summer when Ralf Rangnick’s time as the interim manager is expected to come to an end. And with the club looking set to go trophyless for the fifth straight season unless they end up winning the Champions League, it is safe to say that they need to bring in someone who can steer them towards titles once again.
The name that has been brought up most often in this regard is that of Mauricio Pochettino. He has been linked with the club since when he was at Tottenham Hotspur and is believed to be a particular favourite of Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Argentine is currently the Paris Saint-Germain manager but rumours suggest that he might be shown the exit door if he does not manage to win the Champions League this season, as he has struggled to bring the best out of the squad that they have.
Another manager who appears to be in the running for the Manchester United job is Erik ten Hag though. And there is an interesting update surrounding the Ajax manager.
Ten Hag makes Manchester United decision
As reported by the Daily Mail, Ten Hag is said to have his heart set on a move to Manchester United at the end of the season and Ajax are understood to be aware of his intention to leave. The Dutch manager is studying English.
Ten Hag has done a tremendous job during his time managing Ajax. He was the mastermind behind their run to the Champions League semi-finals a few years back and has them playing some brilliant football this season as well.
Thus, he is one of the most exciting managers in European football right now. But, he has never managed a top flight club outside of Netherlands. Thus, if Manchester United were to appoint him, things could get interesting.
