Manchester United will need to strengthen their squad in the upcoming summer transfer window, when a permanent manager is expected to arrive at Old Trafford as well. The club were expected to make a splash this time around as well, after signing the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, but that has not been the case. Instead, they have struggled badly.

Manchester United appear to be out of the running for every domestic competition this season already and the Champions League seems to be their last hope of winning some silverware. Otherwise, this will be their fifth straight campaign without a trophy.

Thus, it is safe to say that the Red Devils need to improve and they have been linked with several players recently. One of them is AS Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni. And Manchester United have been handed a boost in the race to sign the French international.

As reported by SPORT, a move to Barcelona has been practically ruled out for Tchouameni as their priority is Erling Haaland. And if he does not come, the club will try to sign a top defender and a forward instead. Real Madrid and Chelsea are also believed to be keen on the AS Monaco midfielder though.

Of course, it won’t be easy to sign Tchouameni. But if Manchester United are able to bring him to Old Trafford, it has the potential to be a spectacular move.

Tchouameni has been a standout in Ligue 1 for some time now and has impressed while representing the France national team as well.

Also, at 22 years of age, one would only expect him to get better moving forward. And on top of everything else, midfield is an area that Manchester United need to improve in as soon as possible.
