We need to talk about Cristiano Ronaldo

When Manchester United signed Ronaldo in the summer from Juventus, the move was welcomed with open arms by most fans of the club.

Ronaldo had left the Red Devils more than a decade ago and established himself as one of the best players in the history of the game since then. Now, he was back and it seemed like it was written in the stars that he would be the one to guide them back to titles.

Unfortunately, things have not quite gone as one would have expected. On the contrary, as the season progresses, this is starting to look like a bit of a nightmare for Ronaldo.

This does not look like the Ronaldo of old, who would snap out of a goalless streak and just go on an incredible run of games scoring left, right and centre. No. This is genuinely a player who is struggling to find the back of the net or put in good performances game after game.

On the other hand, Manchester United do not have anyone in their ranks who is in form and they can start ahead of Ronaldo at striker and thus, Ralf Rangnick has had to stick with the Portuguese legend for the most part.

Rangnick might have made a mistake shuffling so much

Rangnick decided to experiment a bit on this occasion and put out a bit of a different starting line up, leaving some key players on the bench.

On paper, it made sense as they were up against a struggling Watford. But on the pitch, it certainly turned out to be a bit of a mistake on the part of the manager.

Manchester United just did not manage to get it going and a 0-0 draw is a terrible result for them at this stage of the campaign, when they are hoping to go on a good run and solidify their place in the top four.
