Manchester United want to sign incredible Chelsea star

Over the past few years, Manchester United have signed Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire. The Englishman is the most expensive defender in football history. On the other hand, the Frenchman won multiple Champions League titles with Real Madrid and also has a World Cup to his name. Thus, one would expect the Red Devils to have one of the best central defensive partnerships in the world.

Unfortunately, that has not been the case on the pitch. Maguire has had an up and down time since joining Manchester United, and has looked completely off form this season. On the other hand, Varane has not made the impact that one would have expected when he arrived from Real Madrid in the summer.

Thus, it would not be a huge surprise if Manchester United tried to sign another centre-back next summer and one player in their sights is Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger.

As reported by the Mirror, Manchester United are keen to land Rudiger in the summer. Ralf Rangnick is a big fan of the defender, who has yet to sign a new contract with Chelsea.

Under the management of Frank Lampard, Rudiger had been on the fringes of the Chelsea first-team picture but has undergone an incredible transformation following the arrival of Thomas Tuchel.

Since then, he has been one of the best defenders in the world and played a huge part in Chelsea’s Champions League win last season, and continues to be a major part of their team.

His future at the club is uncertain though, as his current deal runs out next summer and the German international is yet to agree a new deal with The Blues.

Thus, it could open the door for Manchester United to make a move for Rudiger, although if he was to leave, several clubs around Europe could be interested.
