When Manchester United brought back Cristiano Ronaldo to the Theatre of Dreams in the summer, more than a decade after leaving to join Real Madrid, many viewed the Portuguese superstar as the final piece of the puzzle, who would turn the club into title contenders once again. They had finished second in the Premier League and runners up in the Europa League last season.
The expectation was that Manchester United would end a four-season long trophyless streak this time around. That has not turned out to be the case though.
In fact, unless they end up winning the Champions League, this looks set to be another trophyless campaign for the Red Devils. They suffered early round eliminations from both the FA Cup and the League Cup, and are in the middle of a tight race to finish in the top four of the Premier League.
Thus, there have been suggestions that Ronaldo might end up leaving Manchester United in the summer. Some rumours have linked him with a few clubs already. But it does not look the Portuguese star is planning any such move at this point of time. While speaking on FIVE and as reported by HITC, Fabrizio Romano said regarding the situation:
"“I want to be 100 per cent honest. I was asking about Cristiano last week and the answer was he is not planning on leaving.“He’s just fighting for United, he doesn’t care about the captain’s armband.”"
Ronaldo is not planning to leave Manchester United
It looks like at this point of time, Ronaldo’s focus is completely on Manchester United and he is not planning on a move away from the club.
His form on the pitch will be a bigger concern for the fans though as Ronaldo has struggled to find the back of the net consistently for a few months now.
But with Manchester United having no other striker in goal scoring form, Ralf Rangnick has had to stick with Ronaldo up top for the most part. If the club are to have a successful end to their season though, they will need him to return to form as soon as possible.
