Manchester United look set to appoint a permanent manager next summer. Ralf Rangnick is in the Old Trafford hot seat right now on an interim basis and he has done a decent but not spectacular job till now. Thus, unless the club end up winning the Champions League, it is hard to imagine the German being handed the role on a permanent basis. Instead, he is set to take on a consultancy role with the Red Devils.

On the other hand, several interesting managers have been linked with the Manchester United job over the course of the past few months.

Mauricio Pochettino appears to be one of the favourites to land the job. He is currently the Paris Saint-Germain manager but it is very possible that he could depart the French club soon, after struggling to get the best out of their incredible squad.

As reported by the Mirror, Rangnick has been spotted in the Old Trafford stands alongside AS Monaco sporting director, Paul Mitchell, during an FA Youth Cup game. Interestingly, Mitchell worked with Pochettino at both Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton.

Could Pochettino be the next Manchester United manager?

It does feel like there is a good chance that Pochettino could end up becoming the next manager of Manchester United. Other than him, Ajax’s Erik ten Hag looks like someone that the club are very interested in at this point of time.

It will be interesting to see how things turn out, but it does appear that next summer will be one filled with change for Manchester United.

They definitely need it though. At this point of time, unless they win the Champions League, which will be very difficult, the Red Devils are set to finish trophyless for the fifth straight season. That is certainly not where they will want to be for long.
