Manchester United shelled out around £130 million in transfer fees last summer in order to bring Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane to the club. Back then, it was believed that those three would transform the Red Devils into Premier League title contenders. Unfortunately for the club, that has not happened. Instead, they find themselves in a tight top four race.

Manchester City ad Liverpool almost look certain to finish in the top two spots. And the remaining two seem to be up for grabs. Along with Manchester United; Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Wolves and West Ham United are also in the running for them at the moment.

It remains to be seen if Manchester United can ultimately qualify for next season’s Champions League. But one thing is for sure. They need to make more additions to their squad in the summer.

Christopher Nkunku is one player that the Red Devils have been linked with heavily in recent times. But as reported by Bild, there is no exit clause in his current contract and it would take a transfer fee of at least €75 million for RB Leipzig to let him leave.

Nkunku has been an absolute standout for RB Leipzig in this campaign. The Frenchman has been very good for a while now but this time around, he has taken his game to the next level.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 22 goals and provided 13 assists in 33 appearances for RB Leipzig this season. Incredible for someone who mostly plays as an attacking midfielder.

And he also appears to be a player who steps up on the big occasion. Nkunku has scored a hattrick against Manchester City in the Champions League this season, and also has goals to his name against the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

Thus, it is not hard to see why Manchester United might be interested in signing him. Now, let’s see if they can pull it off.
