Manchester United have a great chance to pull off one of their biggest results of the season when they face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League Round of 16. While the Red Devils might have been going through a tough campaign, they have proven to be a difficult team to beat since the arrival of Ralf Rangnick as interim manager. The same cannot be said about Diego Simeone’s side though.

After winning the La Liga title last season, Atletico Madrid have come nowhere near hitting those same heights this time around. In fact, they are out of the top four at the moment and have lost 8 of their previous 15 games across all competitions.

Thus, while this looks like a very tough tie for Manchester United on paper, reality might be a bit different and Rangnick’s side might actually have a pretty solid chance of going through.

As reported by AS (via The Sun), Simeone could be set to switch from his customary 4-4-2 formation against Manchester United. Atletico Madrid lined up with five at the back in training, with Angel Correa and Joao Felix in attack. That would leave no room for Luis Suarez.

Atletico Madrid could potentially drop Suarez vs Manchester United

Suarez was tremendous for Atletico Madrid last season, after he joined them from FC Barcelona, and played a key role in their La Liga win.

This season though, the Uruguayan legend has not been as spectacular. On top of that, there have been rumours about him potentially leaving Atletico Madrid at the end of this campaign as well.

Suarez did score a wonderful goal from almost the halfway line at the weekend against Osasuna and he has a penchant for turning up in big games as well. Thus, if Atletico Madrid did leave him out of the starting XI against Manchester United, then one has to consider that as a boost for the Red Devils.
