In January of 2020, Manchester United signed Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon. While there might have been some doubts about the Portuguese superstar back then, it has proven to be one of the best moves for the club over the past decade or so. He has been nothing short of sensational since then and many believe could be a future captain at Old Trafford.
During his first season-and-a-half at Manchester United, Fernandes was without doubt the club’s best player and one of the best in the Premier League.
And now having spent over two years at Old Trafford, it is not surprising that he has become one of the fans’ favourite players. He has goals and assists aplenty to his name, and the only thing missing from his Manchester United resume are trophies. Hopefully, that will come soon as well.
Amidst all this, Fernandes has revealed who his best friend at the club is. As reported by Manchester United’s official website, the Portuguese superstar said:
"“So that’s a hard one because I have a good relationship with everyone, honestly, but I think I would probably choose Juan [Mata] because I learn a lot from him in this two years. He’s been someone who’s been really special and make me better every day, on and off the pitch. He made me grow up to be a better player and a better person also.”"

Unfortunately, when people think about the best of Mata, they still think about his time at Chelsea. And understandably so, as the Spaniard was brilliant during his spell at Stamford Bridge, winning the Champions League, the FA Cup and the Europa League.
His time at Manchester United has not been nearly as successful even though he has spent more than twice the time here than he did with Chelsea.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Mata has made 277 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 51 goals and providing 47 assists in the process.
Even though Mata might not have been a regular in this Manchester United first-team for a long time, he continues to be a valuable member of the squad. But it does feel like his run at Old Trafford is set to come to an end in the summer, when his current deal runs out.
