Manchester United’s squad might look very different next season with the club expected to undergo an overhaul. The Red Devils were considered by many as title contenders coming into the campaign. They had finished second in 2020/21. But unfortunately, they have underwhelmed once again and find themselves in a tight race to finish in the top four of the Premier League along with Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Wolves.
One player who could be on his way out of the club, and as a free agent, is Paul Pogba. The Frenchman’s current contract runs out in the summer.
Pogba is not expected to have any lack of suitors if he does end up leaving, having not agreed an extension yet. While clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with the French World Cup winner, it looks like Juventus are already preparing a contract offer for the Manchester United star.
The situation appears to be evolving rapidly, as Rudy Galetti tweeted out:
Juventus are readying contract offer for the Manchester United star
Despite having joined Manchester United in the summer of 2016 in a then world record transfer move, many believe that Pogba played his best football during his time at Juventus. He has shown glimpses of his quality at Old Trafford as well, but he has not shown any consistency.
Thus, a return to Juventus might be a attractive prospect for Pogba, as the Italian club appear to be looking to rebuild themselves after a couple of underwhelming seasons.
Of course, one cannot completely rule out the possibility of Pogba remaining at Manchester United either. His performances since his return from injury have been excellent and there have been suggestions that he has been impressed with Ralf Rangnick. The German is only the interim manager of the club till the end of the season but he will take a consultancy role at Old Trafford after that.
