Cristiano Ronaldo is not the only Portuguese player who has struggled for form in recent times at Manchester United though. The case has been the same with Fernandes.

He started the season in spectacular fashion by scoring a hattrick against Leeds United but since then, things have not been going the playmaker’s way, who had been Manchester United’s talisman in the previous season-and-a-half.

As a result, many have questioned whether he should even be starting on current form. Hopefully, this goal against Brighton & Hove Albion will take some of the pressure off of his shoulders and allow him to play more freely in the upcoming games.

Speaking of playing freely, Pogba has been excellent ever since returning from injury. He came off the bench on this occasion but put in another solid performance and even provided the assist for Fernandes’ goal.

If he can keep on playing like this then Manchester United must do everything that they can to extend his contract with the club, with his current deal running out in the summer.

Problems remain for Manchester United

The biggest problem for Manchester United has been putting in solid performances over the course of 90 minutes and it remained against Brighton & Hove Albion as well.

The Red Devils appeared to struggle in the first half, with Graham Potter’s side dominating possession and even getting the best chance of the game as well, with David de Gea’s brilliant save preventing them from going 1-0 up.

In the second half, Manchester United came into their own and were ultimately deserved winners. But it must be said that the fact that Brighton & Hove Albion went down to 10 men, with Lewis Dunk picking up a red card in the 54th minute, played a big factor in the result as well.
