Cristiano Ronaldo was welcomed back to Manchester United with open arms by the fans after he completed a stunning return to Old Trafford in the summer from Juventus. It was a move that not many had seen coming and was believed to be the final piece of the jigsaw puzzle, which would transform the Red Devils into Premier League title contenders once again. About six months on, things feel vastly different.
Ronaldo did make a bright start to life in his second stint at Manchester United and even played a huge part in them making the Champions League knockout phase. But as the season has progressed, his form has appeared to fade away slowly but surely.
So much so that questions are being raised about the Portuguese superstar’s future at Manchester United and whether he could be on his way out of the club soon, after struggling in recent months, especially under the management of Ralf Rangnick as interim manager.
But as reported by AS, despite his struggles under Rangnick, Ronaldo is happy living in Manchester and his plan is to continue at the club next season.
Ronaldo’s Manchester United plan revealed
While Ronaldo might have had his fair share of struggles this season, he is still Manchester United’s top scorer in both the Premier League and the Champions League at this point of the campaign.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 14 goals and provided 3 assists in 26 appearances for the club across all competitions this season.
While not as good as you would expect from Ronaldo, still these are not terrible numbers. And there is no question about the fact that he is the best finisher that Manchester United have in their squad right now.
Thus, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Ronaldo at Manchester United and whether he is able to step his game up over the coming weeks and months as the top four race heats up.
