Manchester United are expected to bring in a permanent manager in the summer. Ralf Rangnick’s role is only interim and the team have not shown enough progress since his arrival to suggest that he would be handed the job on a long-term basis. As a result, the German looks set to take a consultancy role at the club after this season while the Red Devils will try to fill the managerial hot seat.
Several interesting names have been brought up in this regard. Mauricio Pochettino is someone who has been heavily linked with the Manchester United job in recent weeks as it looks very likely that he will exit PSG in the summer.
Manchester United are believed to have an interest in Pochettino for years now, dating back to when he was at Tottenham Hotspur but a move has never materialised. Rumours have suggested that the players want the Argentine to be brought in as well.
But as reported by The Sun, new Manchester United chief Richard Arnold is backing Rangnick’s pursuit of Erik ten Hag as the next permanent manager.
Manchester United make surprising Ten Hag decision
Manchester United could definitely do with someone like ten Hag as their next manager. He has done a wonderful job at Ajax over the years.
Ten Hag was the architect of Ajax’s incredible run to the Champions League semi-finals a few years back and this time around, his side have done tremendously in the competition as well.
Thus, it is not hard to see why Ten Hag is one of the most exciting managers in Europe right now and is being linked with a number of clubs across the continent.
Of course, it remains to be seen if Manchester United are able to pull a move off. At the same time, one has to wonder what this means for their long-term interest in Pochettino, who has had a difficult time at PSG and could potentially be without a club in the near future.
