Manchester United’s squad might undergo another overhaul in the upcoming summer transfer window. The future of several players are up in the air while at the same time, it is pretty clear that the club need to improve if they are to compete for titles in the future. After being knocked out from the FA Cup by Middlesbrough, it looks like the Red Devils are headed for their fifth straight trophyless campaign.

Manchester United appear to have problems all over the pitch. Their defence has struggled to keep teams from scoring against them. And despite having some incredible options up top and on the wings, the Red Devils have struggled to score consistently.

In fact, since the arrival of Ralf Rangnick as the club’s interim manager, the club have managed to score more than one goal in a game only on three occasions.

And their options up top could be further depleted soon as Edinson Cavani could be set to leave this summer. As reported by GOAL, when asked about the need for another striker, Rangnick said:

"“This is obvious [that United need a striker]. Edinson’s contract is running out in the summer and the club needs the best possible centre-forward. I think everyone is aware of that.”"

Cavani looks set to leave Manchester United in the summer

Judging from Rangnick’s comments, it seems very likely that Cavani is on his way out of Manchester United in the summer when his contract runs out.

The Uruguayan had enjoyed a very successful first season at Old Trafford but has struggled for form, fitness and playing time this time around. As a result, it is not hard to see why he might be set to leave at the end of the campaign.

While Cavani might not have played a lot of football this season, he remains a key member of this Manchester United side. As a result, they will definitely need to find a replacement for him. It remains to be seen how things unfold in the future.
