Manchester United look set to undergo another squad overhaul in the upcoming summer transfer window. There were big hopes coming into this season that they had found the right combination and were ready to challenge for titles. That has not turned out to be the case. And as a result, it is clear that the Red Devils need to make significant additions, with several key players also expected to depart the club in the near future.

One area that they have a lot of options in right now is striker. But at the same time, it might be one where they need to strengthen in the summer.

Edinson Cavani looks almost certain to leave Manchester United next summer and who knows what the future holds for Anthony Martial, who moved to Sevilla on loan last month. And things could get interesting surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo as well, if the Red Devils fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Amidst all this, it looks like the club have their eyes on a very highly-rated striker. As tweeted out by Traspasos and as reported by Sport Witness, Manchester United are now the favourites to sign Darwin Nunez from Benfica in the summer.

Manchester United now favourites to sign Nunez from Benfica

Nunez has been an absolute standout for Benfica in recent times and has been one of the best players in the Portuguese league this season.

As a result, it is expected that Benfica will look for a transfer fee in the region of €60 million to let him leave in the summer and there appears to be a lot of competition to sign the 22-year-old Uruguayan international.

Let’s see what the future holds for Nunez but someone like him could prove to be an excellent addition for Manchester United, who have struggled for goals recently.
