Manchester United could have a huge problem next summer
The Cristiano Ronaldo situation
Cristiano Ronaldo completed a stunning return to Manchester United in the summer and was welcomed back with open arms by the fans. Things have been a bit up and down since then though.
Set to turn 37 years of age this February, it is only natural that he is no longer in his prime as a footballer. Even then, he has been Manchester United’s highest scorer this season by quite some distance.
Questions have been asked though about whether the team has taken a step back as a result of Ronaldo’s arrival. Juventus did appear to do that over the course of the Portuguese legend’s time in Turin.
Whatever may be the case, one thing that is for sure is that Ronaldo is a vital part of this Manchester United side. But if they fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League, it would not be a surprise to see him try to get a move away from Old Trafford.
Paul Pogba on the move?
Paul Pogba’s current deal with Manchester United runs out next summer and at this point of time, it does feel like he is set to leave the club as a free agent unless something unexpected happens.
Clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have been linked with him. And not only is Pogba potentially leaving a problem for Manchester United, but the fact that he would most probably leave as a free agent is an even bigger worry.
Donny van de Beek, Jesse Lingard, Dean Henderson and others
There are several more players at Manchester United who have not gotten the playing time that they have been looking for and could be on their way out of the club next summer.
Donny van de Beek, Jesse Lingard and Dean Henderson are just three of the names that come to mind immediately.
And this is the biggest problem that Manchester United could end up facing next summer, when they might have to bring in a number of new players at the same time, and go through another transitional season.
