Manchester United have very little margin for error left if they are to have a successful season. And as a result, every upcoming match is important for the Red Devils. They currently find themselves in the middle of a Premier League top four race. Although Ralf Rangnick’s side have managed to climb up the table and sit at 4th, the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur do have games in hand.
The FA Cup probably represents their best chance of winning some silverware this season. And they have a fourth round tie coming up as well.
Of course, one also has to mention that the club are in the knockout phase of the Champions League as well, after a while.
But that is always difficult and Rangnick’s side are going to face a tricky test against Atletico Madrid, who have also struggled this season, in the last 16 of the competition.
Manchester United’s next 5 matches and what to expect
Here are Manchester United’s next five matches across all competitions and what you can expect from their upcoming encounters:
Middlesbrough, home, FA Cup
As mentioned already, the FA Cup is probably Manchester United’s best chance of ending their four-season long trophyless streak this time around.
This could be a relatively easier game for the Red Devils, against a side who are sitting at 8th in the Championship at the moment but are in the middle of a decent run of form.
Burnley, away, Premier League
At the moment, Burnley might be one of the easiest opposition in the Premier League. They sit at the bottom of the table and it has not been long since they last tasted defeat at the hands of Manchester United.
They will be looking to avoid relegation though, which means that they are not expected to make things easy for the Red Devils when the two sides meet. Also, the club have gotten an impressive 0-0 draw recently against an in-form Arsenal team.
