If there is one area that Manchester United need to strengthen in right now, it is their midfield, with there being a variety of worries surrounding the middle of the park. Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek could depart Old Trafford in the near future. Nemanja Matic is 33 years of age and no longer in his prime as a footballer. And while they have put in some solid displays recently, overall, there are questions regarding the consistency of Fred and Scott McTominay.
Manchester United were expected to make an addition there in the summer but did not end up doing so. In hindsight, that appears to have been a mistake on the part of the Red Devils.
Since then, the club have been linked with a number of midfielders but nothing has materialised till now. And with just a little over a week left in the January transfer window, it is starting to feel like they will wait until the summer before making any more additions.
Amadou Haidara is someone who Manchester United have been heavily linked with since the arrival of Ralf Rangnick as the interim manager. But a move in January does not appear to be on the cards.
Haidara makes transfer decision amid Manchester United links
As reported by the Daily Mail, Haidara wants to wait until the end of the season in order to assess his options.
Haidara has been a standout for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga in recent times and is currently starring for the Mali national team at the Africa Cup of Nations as they have made it to the Last 16 of the competition. Thus, it is not hard to understand the interest in his signature.
Manchester United are not the only club who have been linked with Haidara in recent months as Newcastle United are believed to have an eye on the RB Leipzig midfielder as well.
