Manchester United, like most other top European clubs right now, have been linked with having an interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland. The Norwegian striker is arguably the most exciting talent in world football right now and has the potential to go on to become one of the best and compete for Ballon d’Ors for years to come. It remains to be seen what the future holds for him.
One thing that almost seems for certain though is the fact that he will get a move away from Borussia Dortmund soon. Rumours have even suggested that a release clause is set to become active in his current deal from next summer.
It is not hard to understand why there is so much interest in the signature of Haaland. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 79 goals and provided 28 assists in 82 appearances for Borussia Dortmund till now.
Those are astounding numbers for any player in the world, especially one who is still just 21 years of age and is expected to get even better moving forward.
Manchester United make shock Haaland transfer decision
As reported by ESPN, Manchester United are out of the race to sign Haaland with the club ready to focus on alternative options after having been made aware that the Norwegian favours a summer move to Real Madrid.
Thus, it looks like Manchester United are not going to push for a move for Haaland in the future. It will be interesting to see though who the club end up targeting as alternative options.
With the way Cristiano Ronaldo is playing, he could still lead the line for a further year or more. But beyond him, there might be a few additions that the Red Devils have to make, with the likes of Edinson Cavani and Anthony believed to be on their way out of Manchester United sooner or later.
