After dropping points against Wolves and Aston Villa, Manchester United brought their Premier League campaign back on track by getting a 3-1 win vs Brentford. As has been the case often recently, the performance left a lot to be desired and to be honest, the Red Devils were completely outplayed in the first half. They would turn things around in the second half though, with goals from Anthony Elanga, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford handing them all three points.

But it is safe to say that Ralf Rangnick’s side still have a long way to go before they can break into the top four once again.

Thus, the squad could do with some strengthening this month in order to give them a boost in that regard. And Manchester United appear to have been handed a perfect opportunity to do that.

Manchester United have been linked with Ousmane Dembele for years and now, it looks like his time at Barcelona is set to come to an end. As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona director Alemany said:

"“It’s clear that Dembélé does not want to continue with Barcelona. He doesn’t want to be part of our project.”"

He also added:

"“We told Dembélé he has to leave immediately. We expect Ousmane to be sold before Jan 31.”"

Thus, it is very clear that Dembele’s time at Barcelona is set to come to an end sooner or later, and this is the perfect opportunity for Manchester United to make a move for the Frenchman, who they have appeared to have their eyes on for a while now.

Dembele’s current deal with Barcelona is set to run out next summer and although it is believed that the club want to keep him at Camp Nou beyond this season, he is yet to put pen on paper.

Thus, it looks like Barcelona do not want to see him walk out as a free agent and will try to find him a new club. It is believed that a transfer fee around €20 million could be enough to sign Dembele this month.
