It is no secret that Manchester United could be looking to add to their midfield in the near future. Fred and Scott McTominay have been the club’s most regular features in the middle of the park but one has to admit that their form often blows hot and cold. On the other hand, while still a decent back up option, at 33 years of age, Nemanja Matic is no longer the player that he once was. And Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek could end up leaving in the near future.

Thus, Manchester United could certainly do with another midfielder and one player that they have been linked with quite a bit in recent times is Aston Villa’s John McGinn.

Signed from Hibernian in 2018, McGinn has been an absolute revelation since arriving at Aston Villa and is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League right now. Thus, it is not hard to see why Manchester United might be interested in his signature.

But as reported by 90min, Aston Villa are not concerned by Manchester United’s interest in McGinn and have no plans to part ways with the Scottish international.

It goes without saying that McGinn has the potential to be a very good signing for Manchester United. But at the moment, it looks like the chances of a move happening are slim.

McGinn is not the only midfielder who has been linked with the club in recent times though. Declan Rice, Kalvin Phillips, Jude Bellingham, Ruben Neves, Boubacar Kamara, Aurelien Tchouameni, Amadou Haidara and many other players have been mentioned as well as potential targets for Manchester United.

It remains to be seen if the club are able to sign another midfielder in the near future. Their squad would get a big boost if they do.
