There are quite a few players at Manchester United who might be looking for an Old Trafford exit this month although there have not been any high profile exits yet. One such player is Anthony Martial. The French international has barely featured for the Red Devils in recent times and is believed to want to depart the club in the January transfer window.

It must also be pointed out that there have been suggestions that Manchester United are open to the prospect of letting Martial go as well, if the right offer is put on the table.

Martial has been linked with quite a few clubs recently, including Barcelona, Juventus and Sevilla. But with almost half the January transfer window gone, nothing has happened when it comes to his Old Trafford exit.

Now, it has emerged that he did not want to be a part of Manchester United’s squad to face Aston Villa, which is the reason why he did not travel with the team.

As reported by Evening Standard, Ralf Rangnick told after the game:

"“He didn’t want to be in the squad.“He would have been in the squad normally, but he didn’t want to. That is the reason why he was not travelling with us yesterday [on Friday].”"

It is no secret that Martial wants to leave Manchester United as soon as possible in search of playing time, having played very little football this season.

A couple of years back, Martial was viewed as an important member of this Manchester United team and even finished the 2019/20 season as their top scorer. Since then though, things have not gone the Frenchman’s way.

He struggled to lead the line for the Red Devils last season and currently finds himself behind Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho in the pecking order, possibly even Anthony Elanga.

Thus, a move away from Old Trafford would make sense for Martial. Now, it remains to be seen whether it happens or not.
