Manchester United might have enjoyed a tremendous summer transfer window, and their squad is considered as one of the strongest in the Premier League but one has to admit that there are several areas where the Red Devils might need to strengthen. Unexpectedly, right-back has emerged as one such position in recent times despite the club having Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot.

Wan-Bissaka had started his time at Manchester United brilliantly but his form has faded away over time. Questions have been raised about both his performances and his ability going forward.

On the other hand, Dalot has put in some solid performances in recent times but one has to wonder whether he can do that on a consistent basis. It must be pointed out that the Portuguese full-back has been signed to Manchester United since the summer of 2018 but has never quite managed to nail down his place in the first-team.

Thus, the Red Devils could do with another option at right-back. And it looks like they have a former Chelsea player in their sights, who has shined since departing Stamford Bridge.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Manchester United have a strong interest in Tariq Lamptey and appear to value him at a transfer fee around £30 million, although Brighton & Hove Albion would be expected to look for closer to £40 million.

Lamptey came through the youth ranks at Chelsea but ended up departing the club early on in his career. That is understandable as the Blues have Reece James and Cesar Azpilicueta in their ranks and chances would have been rare for the youngster.

It has proven to be the right move for him as he has enjoyed a great time at Brighton & Hove Albion and should not be far away from getting an England national team call up.
