After struggling on the field this season, Manchester United would want to oversee a positive January transfer window. It is anticipated that the club could let go of a few players, who have failed to get enough playing time so far in this campaign and have little hope of breaking into Ralf Rangnick’s starting XI on a consistent basis anytime soon.

Once expected to be a first-team regular for Manchester United, Jesse Lingard has struggled for minutes at Old Trafford for a long time.

Following an outstanding loan spell with West Ham United last season, the England international returned to the Theatre of Dreams in the summer with renewed hopes. There were expectations that he could do the same for the Red Devils.

Playing time has been hard to come by at Old Trafford though. Combine that with the fact that his current deal runs out next summer and a renewal does not seem on the horizon, and it looks like he could be set to leave soon.

Manchester United could receive transfer bid for Lingard in January

As reported by the Express, West Ham United are considering making a transfer bid for Lingard in January and hope that Manchester United will be prepared to do a deal for a transfer fee around £10 million rather than see him walk out as a free agent in the summer.

As things stand, there are no signs of Lingard extending his contract with Manchester United, which is understandable considering his lack of playing time.

On the other hand, we have seen how good he can be when on form. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 9 goals and provided 5 assists in 16 appearances for West Ham United last season.

At this point of time, it might make sense for both the club and the player to part ways. It remains to be seen what the future holds though.
