Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United in the summer was nothing short of incredible. Rumoured to be joining Manchester City just days earlier, there was a swift and unexpected transfer twist and instead he left Juventus to complete a fairy tale comeback to the Theatre of Dreams.

However, not everyone was optimistic about the signing. Some were sceptical about whether he could still get it done at the age of 36, especially in the Premier League.

It didn’t take long for Ronaldo to prove many of his doubters wrong, with the Portuguese legend scoring a brace in his first Premier League game back, against Newcastle United. And he has since been great in front of goal.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 14 goals in 20 appearances across all competitions for Manchester United in 2021/22. Currently, he is the highest goalscorer for the Red Devils this season.

Surprisingly, there have been some rumours about Ronaldo leaving the club in the near future, as despite his individual brilliance, Manchester United do not find themselves in a great position. But it appears that the Portuguese superstar is very happy at Old Trafford.

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, told Sky Sport:

"“Cristiano Ronaldo is very happy at Man United. He’s gonna continue with his solid, great performances as always in his career. It’s gonna be a great season for him, I’m sure.”"

Manchester United are already out of the League Cup and have fallen far behind the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League title race. They have done very well in the Champions League but it safe to say that that would be very difficult to win, although never say never in football. At the moment though, the FA Cup represents the club’s most probable chance of winning something in the 2021/22 season.

And if somehow Manchester United fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League, it would be interesting to see what Ronaldo decides to do.
