One of the biggest questions surrounding Manchester United right now is regarding what the club will do in the January transfer window. They already have a big squad with a number of world-class players but the performances on the pitch have left a lot to be desired till now. They also find themselves in a race to finish in the top four of the Premier League.
As a result, the club might need to strengthen their squad further if they are to finish in the Champions League spots. But after the massive summer transfer window that they had, bringing in players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Tom Heaton, as well as the fact that Ralf Rangnick is only the interim manager till the end of the season, there has to be some doubt about that.
While Manchester United’s squad still seems a bit unbalanced, it does feel like they will only add to it in January if the right player is available.
As reported by the Mirror, Rangnick said about the situation:
"“The transfer window in the winter only makes sense if they increase the quality.“So far we have not spoken about that.“My focus is on the current players, we have enough players so there is no lack of numbers.”"
Rangnick drops possible Manchester United transfer hint
Judging from Rangnick’s comments, it does not feel like Manchester United will be adding much to their squad in January if at all. And considering the circumstances, that might actually be the right step for them.
Rangnick is a short-term fix for the club unless they end up achieving great success this season. The start under the German coach has not been brilliant but the results have been solid for the most part.
The club’s number one target right now will be to finish in the top four of the Premier League. And with Chelsea and West Ham United struggling right now, they might have a great chance to break into the Champions League spots, if they can go on a good run of results from here on.
