After the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Manchester United have brought in Ralf Rangnick to be the club’s interim manager. The legendary German coach will initially take the managerial hot seat at Old Trafford, till the end of the season, after which he will take a consultancy role for the next two years. It remains to be seen how his time at the club goes.
Manchester United are believed to be willing to let a few players leave over the coming transfer windows. And although it has not been long since his appointment, Rangnick might have already identified those who are not in his long-term plans.
Rangnick, who shaped the idea of Gegenpressing, has always been known to give youth a chance. It also suits his style of pressing and counter-pressing the opponents continuously.
As a result, this could come as bad news for some of Manchester United’s veteran stars, who might not be a good fit in Rangnick’s style of football. It must also be pointed out that some of them were already believed to be on their way out of the club even before the German manager’s arrival.
Manchester United star wants to join Real Sociedad
As reported by AS (via Sport Witness), Manchester United’s Juan Mata has offered himself to Real Sociedad on a free transfer.
The 33-year-old Spaniard is believed to be an attractive option for Real Sociedad. The World Cup winner’s current deal with Manchester United is set to run out in the summer of 2022 and he is expected to become a free agent after that.
Despite signing a new one-year contract with Manchester United in the summer, Mata has struggled for playing time of late.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made just 3 appearances for the Red Devils this season, featuring for 151 minutes in total.
On the other hand, with uncertainty over the future of Adnan Januzaj, Real Sociedad are believed to be assessing their options. And Mata might very well be a solid addition to their squad.
