Manchester United could end up seeing a number of players leave during the winter transfer window. With the club competing on three fronts in the second half of the season, having been knocked out of the League Cup early on, the Red Devils will need to look for reinforcements if some players head out the exit door. And one star who has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford recently is Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

There have also been rumours that the Serbian midfielder had fallen out with manager, Maurizio Sarri, due to the 26-year-old’s attitude in training and a recent Christmas dinner.

However, he featured in Lazio’s recent 3-1 away victory over Venezia in midweek. And then, Milinkovic-Savic put the matter to rest on his social media.

As reported by the Mirror, Milinkovic-Savic wrote on Instagram:

"“I see lot of rumours about me but… I don’t care! I just want Lazio to win.”"

Milinkovic-Savic has responded amid Manchester United rumours

It seems that a potential winter move for Milinkovic-Savic is not on the table for Manchester United, as the Serbian seems committed to playing for Lazio.

However, with uncertainty regarding Paul Pogba’s contract situation, the Lazio midfielder is a player that the Red Devils should keep an eye on.

There is absolutely no denying the fact the Milinkovic-Savic is one of the best midfielders in Serie A. He has been one of Lazio’s talismans for a long time now, and with time on his side as he is still just 26 years of age, he is expected to be on the radar of several top European clubs.

The midfielder’s current deal with Lazio runs out in the summer of 2024, and as a result, Manchester United would have to shell out a big transfer fee if they are to sign him anytime soon.

Much of Manchester United’s midfield transfer plans will hinge on Pogba’s contract situation though. His current deal runs out in the summer.
