Manchester United pulled off a major transfer coup when they signed Raphael Varane from Real Madrid in the summer. One of the most decorated defenders of his generation, the French World Cup winner was expected to come in and solve the Red Devils’ issues at the back. Things have not quite turned out that way though, as the club have continued to struggle in defence this season as well.

Varane has had his own individual problems, struggling with injuries and spending significant time on the sidelines. On the other hand, the Manchester United defence has struggled as a whole as well.

Questions have been raised about Harry Maguire once again, while the futures of Phil Jones and Eric Bailly remain up in the air. Thus, it should not be come as a huge surprise if the club ended up signing another centre-back in the near future.

And one player who could prove to be tremendous signing for Manchester United is Sevilla’s Jules Kounde, who is one of the most exciting young players in the world right now and has been one of the best in La Liga for a while.

Manchester United should try to sign Kounde

Kounde was heavily linked with a move away from Sevilla last summer but it did not end up materialising as it is believed that the La Liga club wanted someone to meet his €80 million release clause.

Since then, rumours have suggested though that Sevilla are willing to negotiate on that, with two-and-a-half years left on Kounde’s current deal.

It is safe to say that Kounde has immense potential and could go on to become one of the best defenders in the world in the future. Manchester United have been linked with him in the past but are expected to face heavy competition for his signature even if they decided to make a move.
