Van de Beek was one of the most highly rated young midfielders in the world during his time at Ajax. He had rose to prominence during the Dutch side’s run to the Champions League semi-finals a couple of years back and made his mark with the Netherlands national team as well.

Thus, it was no surprise that there was a lot of expected from his move to Manchester United. Things have not worked out as well as expected though.

Van de Beek has struggled to break into the Red Devils’ starting XI and spent most of his time sitting on the bench at Old Trafford.

Recent rumours have suggested though that he is valued by Ralf Rangnick and as a result, fans would be hoping that he gets a run in the Manchester United first-team at some point in the near future.

He did undergo a bit of a physical transformation in the summer and looks much more ready for the Premier League now. Some of his cameos off the bench have been cause for optimism as well.

Diogo Dalot

Another player who has gotten a chance in the first-team recently is Dalot and he has grabbed it with both hands. The Portuguese star had spent the previous season on loan at AC Milan and was linked with a permanent move away in the summer but ultimately, it did not transpire.

Wan-Bissaka has been the regular right-back at Manchester United ever since signing for the club in 2019. Now though, he might have some competition for his spot in the team.

The general feeling is that Dalot is a better fit in Rangnick’s style of football while questions have been raised about Wan-Bissaka’s form and him going forward. Thus, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the right-back spot at Old Trafford.
