Donny van de Beek’s Manchester United future has been a topic of discussion for quite some time now. The Dutchman arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2020 with a lot of expectations but it is safe to say that things have not gone as most people would have envisioned. The former Ajax standout has barely featured for the Red Devils recently and spent the majority of his time sitting on the bench.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 12 appearances this season and featured for just 361 minutes of football in total, scoring one goal in the process of doing so.

Not too long ago, it was considered only as a matter of time before he departed Manchester United. But the exit of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the arrival of Ralf Rangnick as interim manager till the end of season appears to have changed the situation.

As reported by the Mirror, Van de Beek is valued by Rangnick and will not be allowed to leave.

Van de Beek looks set to stay at Manchester United

Van de Beek was one of the most highly rated young midfielders in the world during his time at Ajax. He has not quite shown his abilities during his time at Manchester United till now.

Let’s see if that changes under the management of Rangnick. We have already seen players like Alex Telles and Diogo Dalot take their chance under the new manager and produce some brilliant performances, which must have put them in first-team consideration at least.

It will be interesting to see if Van de Beek can do something similar over the coming weeks and months. The Dutch midfielder did undergo a bit of a physical transformation in the summer and looks more ready for the Premier League now than he did last season. Some of his recent cameos off the bench have been impressive as well.
