Manchester United star unhappy with Cristiano Ronaldo situation

Cristiano Ronaldo made an emotional return to Manchester United in the summer transfer window. The Portuguese striker was brought back to the club to strengthen their attacking line. His veteran presence was expected to benefit younger players like Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho as well.
The 36-year-old superstar has gone about his business pretty well so far, scoring consistently in all competitions for Manchester United this season. However, his arrival seems to have not worked in favour of several players, including Greenwood, who has been struggling for game time since Ronaldo’s return.
Greenwood had enjoyed a spectacular start to the 2021/22 season and was looking like one of Manchester United’s standout players. But he has been left on the bench often in recent games.
As reported by El Nacional (via Daily Mail), it appears that Greenwood is unhappy with his lack of playing time and also the fact that Ronaldo will always be the first name on their team-sheet.
Greenwood unhappy with his situation at Manchester United
Greenwood has found it difficult to break into the starting XI. In the last five games across all competitions, the 20-year-old has managed to start just one game for Manchester United. And that was the one against Young Boys, when the Red Devils had already secured their qualification to the knockout phase.
Also, Sancho has started to slowly find his feet at Manchester United, which has made things tougher for Greenwood. The former Borussia Dortmund star is a natural winger, and he is expected to thrive under the management of Ralf Rangnick.
Also, Ronaldo has hardly put a foot wrong for the Red Devils so far this season, and is in fact, one of the main reasons why the club made the last 16 of the Champions League this season.
Rangnick is known for his ability to develop young talents though and is expected to give Greenwood chances as well. The 20-year-old will have to take the opportunities, when presented to him, if he is to once again establish himself as a regular starter for Manchester United.
