Manchester United face a tricky scenario as several of their first-team stars could be eyeing an Old Trafford exit in the near future after struggling to get into the starting XI this season. One of those players is Edinson Cavani, as a combination of Cristiano Ronaldo’s return in the summer and his own injury problems have meant that he has not gotten a lot of minutes on the pitch in this campaign till now.

That is not what most people would have expected a few months back when he was believed to be Manchester United’s first-choice striker after enjoying a tremendous second half to the 2020/21 season, when he was playing like one of the best strikers in the world despite being 34 years of age.

It is safe to say that things can change very quickly in football. And they certainly have for Cavani, who is believed to be looking to leave the club.

But as reported by TyC Sports, Cavani has been in contact with Boca Juniors and has rejected the chance to go there. Instead, it looks like he wants to join FC Barcelona.

Manchester United superstar has rejected Boca Juniors move but wants Barcelona switch

Barcelona are in the middle of a very difficult situation. They sit at 8th in the La Liga table and are already out of the Champions League. And Sergio Aguero was forced to retire recently due to medical reasons. We can only wish the Argentine legend the best of luck for his future.

It is safe to say though that the Spanish giants need a reliable goalscorer right now, having already seen Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann depart the club in the summer as well.

And there have been rumours that they are eyeing a move for Cavani from Manchester United. It remains to be seen if that transpires in the summer.
