Manchester United youngster close to new contract
Manchester United are considered to have one of the best academies across Europe. Over the years, they have developed many players who have gone on to become absolute superstars in the game. The class of ’92 are a great example of that but there have been many others. And it is no surprise that they have a talented set of youngsters at the club right now as well.
Emerging through the youth ranks, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood are two of the recent names who have made their mark while playing for the Manchester United senior team. And there are expected to be many more in the future.
With youngsters as talented as the club have, it is natural that they attract attention from clubs across Europe. Then, it becomes important for the club to hold on to their players. In such a situation, handing them a new contract remains the most likely path.
As reported by The Telegraph (via The Sun), Anthony Elanga is close to signing a new long-term contract with Manchester United after impressing Ralf Rangnick.
Elanga looks set to sign new Manchester United contract
It is understood that Elanga is one of those who has caught the eye of Rangnick, who arrived at the club recently as the interim manager till the end of the season after which he is set to take a consultancy role for two years.
Elanga made his Premier League debut against Leicester City last season. And his first goal for the senior team came against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
In pre-season this time around, Elanga was impressive and many expected him to feature much more frequently than he has this season, although he has had his injury problems as well.
Since Rangnick’s arrival, Elanga has gotten some playing time and he was on the pitch for 90 minutes against Young Boys in the last game of the Champions League group stage.
