Several Manchester United stars are being linked with potential exits in the upcoming January transfer window. One such player is Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2020 as a free agent and enjoyed a tremendous second half to the 2020/21 campaign. But since the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, he has not played a lot of first-team football for the Red Devils this season.

At 34 years of age, Cavani is no longer in his prime as a footballer and it would be understandable if he does not want to spend the twilight years of his playing career sitting on the bench. As a result, the Uruguayan has been heavily linked with a move away in January.

Barcelona are one of the clubs believed to be interested. The Spanish giants are going through a very disappointing season and appear to be in need of a reliable goalscorer.

And as tweeted out by Gerard Romero, Barcelona have made a one-and-a-half year proposal to Cavani. And it could rise to €10 million in total with variables.

Barcelona want to sign Cavani from Manchester United and have made proposal

After a slow start at Manchester United, Cavani had come into his own in the second half of the 2020/21 season and found the back of the net consistently. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 17 goals for the club last season.

During that period of time, he was looking like one of the best strikers in England and was expected to lead the line for Manchester United this season. But a combination of Ronaldo’s return and his own injury problems have meant that he has barely featured this time around.

With Anthony Martial’s Old Trafford future up in the air as well, it will be interesting to see whether Manchester United let Cavani leave this January before signing another striker.
