Manchester United have one of the best forward departments in world football right now with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood in their ranks. But that does not mean that they will not add to their options up front. On the contrary, they might have to do that in the not too distant future with a few of those players being linked with moves away from Old Trafford.
Cavani enjoyed a spectacular second half to the 2020/21 campaign and was expected to be the club’s main striker this season. But a combination of injuries and Ronaldo’s Manchester United return have meant that he has struggled for playing time.
On the other hand, Martial has also struggled for minutes on the pitch and it appears that he is looking to leave the club in January itself. Some rumours have even linked Rashford with a move away. Thus, the club might need another striker soon.
One player that they have been linked with a lot recently is Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic and Manchester United appear to have been handed a potential transfer boost in the race for the Serbian striker.
Manchester United handed Vlahovic transfer boost
As reported by Repubblica (via The Sun), Fiorentina’s Joe Barone said:
"“We’ve offered Vlahovic the highest contract ever in the history of Fiorentina, several times.“Both Dusan and his agent made us realise that they do not want to accept. Our bid is still on the table.”"
Vlahovic has been absolutely magnificent this season and despite being just 21 years of age, he is already leading the Serie A scoring charts.
Thus, it is not hard to understand why there is so much interest in the Serbian striker’s signature. Other than Manchester United, several other Premier League clubs are believed to be keeping an eye on his situation as well and it will be interesting to see how things turn out as it looks likely that he will leave Fiorentina in the future unless things change significantly. His current deal with the Italian side is believed to run till the summer of 2023.
