Not too long ago, Rudiger was struggling at Chelsea. He had gotten lost in the shuffle under Frank Lampard and looked to be on his way out of the club.

The German defender has undergone quite a transformation since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel though, regaining his place in the starting XI at Stamford Bridge and playing a huge part in their Champions League triumph last season.

There is an argument to be made that he has been one of the top three centre-backs in the world in 2021. But he could end up leaving Chelsea on a free transfer at the end of this season with his current deal set to run out. It is believed that talks are still going on with The Blues but if he does end up becoming a free agent, Manchester United should definitely consider making a move.
