Manchester United’s January transfer window could be interesting. On one hand, one would think that they already have a great squad that has the quality to achieve their targets this season. But on the other hand, they have not quite delivered yet and there is clearly need to improve. Thus, a lot could depend on how things go from now till the end of the month when it comes to determining their approach.
One surprising rumour that had emerged in recent days was linking Philippe Coutinho to an Old Trafford move.
It is believed that Barcelona are looking to find the Brazilian star a new club after he has struggled to make his mark at Camp Nou over the years. And they were ready to offer Manchester United the chance to sign him.
But as reported by El Nacional (via ESPN), Manchester United have no interest in signing Coutinho from Barcelona.
Manchester United are reportedly not interested in signing Coutinho
The former Liverpool star has struggled ever since moving to Barcelona. Once one of the most highly-rated players in world football, his form has faded away badly.
But still just 29 years of age, time is still on Coutinho’s side. He already had an impressive loan spell with Bayern Munich a couple of years earlier and thus, many feel that a move away from Barcelona could help him rediscover his best form.
Unfortunately though, it is hard to see where he would fit in the current Manchester United team. The Red Devils have some tremendous options already in the positions that he could play in.
Half a decade earlier, Coutinho would have been a fantastic signing for any club around the Premier League. He has already shown during his time at Liverpool that he can get it done in English football. But right now, that might not be the case.
