Another player who has impressed in recent times but has not gotten a lot of opportunities is Diogo Dalot. The Portuguese full-back spent the previous season on loan at AC Milan and enjoyed a solid campaign with the Italian giants. There were some talks about a potential permanent transfer but that didn’t happen.

With questions being asked about Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s form in recent times, there were hopes that Dalot could get more first-team opportunities this season. Yet that has not materialised till now.

But after Wan-Bissaka picked up an injury recently, it was Dalot who was starting at right-back for Manchester United in Ralf Rangnick’s first game in charge. And it is safe to say that the Portuguese star grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

There might be some good competition for the right-back spot over the coming months. And it does feel like Dalot is a great fit for Rangnick’s style of football.

Alex Telles

For years, Alex Telles had been linked with moves to several clubs across the Premier League. It was finally in the summer of 2020 that he made the move and joined Manchester United.

There were many who expected big things. But his move coincided with Luke Shaw finding the best form of his career and thus, he did not feature a lot in his first season with Manchester United.

This time around though, Shaw has not been able to match the heights of the previous season and recently picked up an injury as well.

Telles has come in in his absence and has done a fantastic job. His recent performances deserve a lot of praise. And if he can keep performing like this over the coming weeks and months, Shaw will have a tough fight on his hands to win back his place in the starting XI.
