A lot has changed at Manchester United since the start of the season. Not too long ago, the club were expected to put up a Premier League title challenge. But a disappointing start to the season saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being shown the exit door after almost three years as the club’s manager. Ralf Rangnick has arrived as the interim manager till the end of the season.

This might be a fresh start for a number of players. There are quite a few who did not get a lot of opportunities under the management of Solskjaer but might possibly do so under Rangnick.

The German’s style of football is very different and is more focussed on intense pressing and winning back the ball from the opposition as quickly as possible. We have seen Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool use that same system to great success in recent years.

Can Rangnick do the same? It remains to be seen. But exciting times might be ahead at Old Trafford.

There have been calls for Donny van de Beek to be given his chance for a long time now. The Dutch midfielder arrived with a lot of expectations in the summer of 2020 but has not been able to make his mark at Manchester United.

Despite showing signs of improvement and even undergoing a physical transformation, he has spent the majority of his time sitting on the bench this season.

Could that possibly change under Rangnick? That remains to be seen and only time shall tell. Van de Beek did make a cameo off the bench against Crystal Palace and fans would be hoping to see much more of him over the coming weeks.
