The arrival of Ralf Rangnick represents a fresh start for several Manchester United stars. There are many who have not gotten a lot of chances this season who would be hoping to get them now. On the other hand, there are many who have been first-team regulars for a while, who might need to fight for their place in the starting XI once again. Interesting times are certainly ahead for the club.
Rangnick’s first Manchester United starting XI was interesting to say the least although a lot of that was down to injuries. The backline consisted of Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Alex Telles. It is safe to say that we have not seen that combination often.
They did manage to keep a clean sheet though, which has been rare for Manchester United this season. And Rio Ferdinand believes that Aaron Wan-Bissaka might have a fight on his hands to get back into this team.
As reported by Metro, the Manchester United legend said on the Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE YouTube channel:
"‘One thing this manager likes is full-backs who can actually play and get on the ball.‘As well as doing the other stuff like pressing, he wants output with the ball. That’s the weakest part of Wan-Bissaka’s game, there’s going to be a big fight for him to get back into this team.’"
Wan-Bissaka has a fight on his hands to get back in Manchester United’s starting XI
Questions have been raised about Wan-Bissaka going forward for a while now. He has been the first-choice right-back at Manchester United since joining the club and there is no question about the fact that he is one of the best full-backs in the Premier League when it comes to the defensive side of his game. But the same cannot be said on the other end of the pitch.
On the other hand, Dalot has been impressive in recent times as well and made the most of his opportunity against Crystal Palace to make an impression.
Of course, Wan-Bissaka was injured recently but it will be interesting to see who Rangnick goes with at right-back when both him and Dalot are fit at the same time.
