Things never stop at clubs like Manchester United. The Red Devils enjoyed a tremendous summer transfer window but since then things have not gone their way. A lot has transpired at Old Trafford this season already. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been shown the exit door. Michael Carrick had an impressive run as caretaker manager. And Ralf Rangnick has now been appointed as the interim manager till the end of the season.

It appears that the club have plans for the future already in place as well and are prepared for all possible scenarios.

One of those is the potential departure of David de Gea in the future. The Spaniard had appeared to be on his way out of the club in the summer after falling behind Dean Henderson in the pecking order last season. But he has done brilliantly to win his place back in the starting XI. Thus, him leaving feels unlikely now.

But as reported by CalcioMercato, Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma is the number one candidate for Manchester United if De Gea was to leave.

Manchester United have Donnarumma in their sights

Gianluigi Donnarumma enjoyed a superb EURO 2020 campaign, playing a huge part in Italy’s triumph. Since then though, things have not quite gone his way.

Donnarumma might have been crowned the best goalkeeper in the world recently, but he has been struggling for regular minutes since joining Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

The Italian goalkeeper has rotated with Keylor Navas at Paris Saint-Germain, and as a result, he is already being linked with a move away from the club, just months after arriving.

There is no question about the fact that Donnarumma is one of the best between the posts in world football. And it is unbelievable that he is still just 22 years of age. Thus, he would be a fantastic signing for any club.
