Chelsea star wants to join Manchester United over Barcelona

Manchester United have one of the strongest squads in world football right now although their performances till now might not have matched the expectations coming into the season. And one of their strongest areas is their forward line. Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford are all players who can play at striker for Ralf Rangnick’s side.

But, it is also undeniable that they might need to make more additions there soon. Ronaldo and Cavani are two of the best players of their generation but neither of them are in their prime anymore. On the other hand, Martial has been linked with a Manchester United exit for a while now.

But could a Chelsea star turn out to be the potential solution for Manchester United up top?

As reported by El Nacional, following the arrival of Rangnick, Manchester United is the big favourite to get Timo Werner. Chelsea prefer to let him join Barcelona, a club who appear to be very interested in signing him, but the player’s desire is to leave for Old Trafford.

Could Manchester United make a move for Chelsea’s Werner?

It is safe to say that Werner has not had a great individual time since arriving at Chelsea. A dominant goalscorer back in the Bundesliga, he has struggled in front of goal in English football, even missing easy chances on several occasions, as it has looked like he is lacking in confidence.

But, there is no doubt about the fact that he is a very effective player and while he might not be at his free scoring best, he still played a huge part in Chelsea’s Champions League winning campaign last season.

Thus, if someone can bring the best out of Werner, he could prove to be a fantastic striker. Now, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the Chelsea star.
