Newcastle United ready to make huge offer to Manchester United star

Newcastle United appear to have a Manchester United star on their radar, as the Magpies are expected to make a splash in January. They are not in a great position right now, sitting in the relegation zone of the Premier League, but might very well end up making significant additions to their squad next month to help them in their quest to stay up in the top flight of English football.

And following the club’s recent takeover, Newcastle United are ultimately expected to move significantly up the table over the coming seasons and compete for trophies, similar to what happened with Manchester City more than a decade ago.

One long-time Manchester United player has been linked with a move to The Magpies recently. That man is Jesse Lingard.

According to The Times, Newcastle United have made him their priority in the January transfer window and are prepared to offer him a deal that would make him the highest earner in the club’s history.

Lingard enjoyed a tremendous half-a-season loan spell at West Ham United in 2020/21. During that period of time, he was easily one of the best players in the entire Premier League.

Thus, expectations were high when he returned to Manchester United this summer but once again, he has found opportunities hard to come by, spending most of his time sitting on the bench.

And with his current deal set to run out next summer, it is not hard to imagine him leaving in January in search of regular football, with it looking unlikely that he would extend his contract with Manchester United unless the circumstances change drastically.

Could Lingard end up moving to Newcastle United? That is something only time can tell but it is an exciting project to consider for sure for any player right now.
