Manchester United did a great job in keeping the core of their squad together over the summer while also signing the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Tom Heaton. But a number of their players could be headed out of Old Trafford in future transfer windows, having not received a lot of game time this season. Some players’ current deals are coming to an end as well.

For Jesse Lingard, it is both. The Manchester United academy graduate’s current deal with the club will come to an end next summer. While on the other hand, he has not received a lot of playing time either.

As things stand, he is not expected to extend his current deal and thus, January could be Manchester United’s last opportunity to get a transfer fee out of his departure. Recently, there have been some rumours about a potential return to West Ham United.

But as reported by The Sunday People [print edition, November 21, page 57] (via West Ham Zone], West Ham United are leading the race to sign Isco from Real Madrid.

Real Madrid could hand Manchester United a Lingard transfer blow

Isco finds himself in a similar situation to Lingard. He has not played a lot of football in recent times and his current deal is also believed to run out next summer as well.

If West Ham United end up signing Isco though, it is hard to see them sign Lingard as well. Naturally, that would be a blow to Manchester United if they are looking to find him a new club in January.

Of course, with Ralf Rangnick coming in as interim manager, things could change now and it is very possible that Lingard might end up playing much more regularly than he has in recent times. It is a fresh start for many players. Let’s see how things unfold.
